Safety Town is a safety education program geared for the pre-kindergarten child. Topics include pedestrian safety, police officers, bicycle safety, riding a school bus, safety at home and play, fire safety, stranger danger, seat belts and water safety. Traffic safety is emphasized daily as children ride through our miniature “city” complete with buildings, crossing guards,and street signs. Children who complete Safety Town will be better prepared to care for themselves as a pedestrian or bus rider during their first year of school as well as be more safety conscious at home and play. Safety town has been specially designed for your child’s needs – it is fun and educational. Safety Town is sponsored by Saline Community Education in cooperation with the Saline Police Department.
WHO: Children entering Young 5’s and Kindergarten in September 2010.
WHEN: Classes meet two hours a day for nine days.
WHERE: Liberty School (7265 Saline Ann Arbor Rd., Saline) *New Location!
PARENT ORIENTATION: All children and parents will meet for a 30-45 minute orientation on the first day of your session (children stay for full session). It is the parent's responsibility to bring their child to Safety Town daily and to pick them up promptly at dismissal. Parents who will have someone else picking up their child must designate that on the enrollment form.
FEE: $75 (Children from low income families should contact Saline Community Education for information about reduced rates.)
TO REGISTER: Use our online process (beginning May 3) or fill out the form from the Summer Guide and return it with the proper fee either in person or by mail (beginning May 5) to Saline Community Education, 200 North Ann Arbor Street, Saline, MI 48176. Please make checks payable to Saline Area Schools. Class size is limited, so registrations will be processed on a first come basis. Requests for classroom assignments will not be granted. You must register at least one week prior to the start of your session.
